The Model 29-3 came out in 1982 and this was a sad day for Smith and Wesson. The Model 29 continued and the Model 29-7 ushered in the era of MiM parts. Under no circumstances should you ever buy a Model 29-7. These are schmoed-out pieces of junk and are best used as paperweights.I picked up a 15-3 in excellent condition, just a slight hint of a drag line on the cylinder, otherwise 99%. I'm trying to figure out the age of this revolver, serial number is 1K15XXX. Best I can tell from Google this is circa 1970. Can anyone verify this? It doesn't have the diamond service grips so I do know its after 1967.
Mar 30, 2022 · K-prefix serial numbers ran from 1946 to 1983. The model 15-2 was introduced in 1961, and the 15-3 came out in 1967. If you would like a more precise year, you need to give a more precise serial number. The only .38 spl Smith and Wessons in that serial number range were produced in 1903 and 1904 as the Smith and Wesson .38spl Hand Ejector M&P.
